Norwest Offsite FAQ

General Information

Norwest Anglican Church will soon be undergoing building renovations, estimated to begin in July 2024. During this time, the congregation will be meeting offsite at William Clarke College (WCC), just 10 minutes from the church. The first Sunday we will meet at William Clarke College is expected to be on July 14th. Check on this page and keep an eye for further updates.

FAQs

There are several people you can reach out to, to access information, ask questions and find reassurance. In the first instance, your Community Group leader is a great place to start. However, if you don’t feel they can address all your questions, feel free to reach out to any of our pastoral team. simply send an email to our office – office@norwest.org – and we can be in touch.

The building project being undertaken is the redevelopment of our main auditorium. This will include new ministry spaces, new bathrooms, a new kitchen, and new storage spaces. Wonderfully, it will also grow the capacity of the auditorium from approx. 300 to approx. 400 people. See this link to view the latest design.

We plan for our staff to continue to work from the church site during construction, but for a range of reasons (including power outages, toilet access, noise and dust) no church ministries will be run from our site.

We understand that we will be offsite for between 4-6 months.

In all likelihood, our first Sunday offsite will be Sunday, July 14th – which is the middle of the school holidays.

We plan to meet in the Sports Centre all at William Clarke College – 1 Morris Grove, Kellyville, NSW. See map here.

There is plenty of available parking available on site with a lift available for easy access to the Sports Centre. 

The Sports Centre is highly accessible. There is a car park underneath the building, with a lift up to the sports centre. The Sports Centre itself is all on one level. There are also accessible bathrooms at the Sports Centre. 

There will be changes to all of our 5 Sunday services. During our time off-site, we will be combining our two-morning services – 8.30 am and 10.30 am to a combined service at 9.30 am. Our 1 pm Mandarin service will meet at 1:30 pm. Our night services – 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm will gather together at 6 pm.

If you still would like to honour your original commitment to the building fund, or perhaps you are new and have been blessed by our ministry here, then if you were willing to also contribute to the building project any contribution you were able to make would be gratefully received. Absolutely! We have booked several classrooms, so we can continue to serve our kids and families with our wonderful Kids Ministry.

At this point, we do not think so. We will try to provide a space where families with little ones can gather during the service, which will include a change table. However, it might still be in the main hall area. We will do all we can to serve our families in this area, as we know more.

Our Friday night youth ministry will continue to run, at our normal times in both its junior and senior structure (Years 6 to 8: 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM; Years 9 to 12: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM). Youth will run at the Crestwood Community Centre, on Crestwood Dr opposite Conway Ct. Entry is through the Charles McLaughlin Reserve carpark.

Our DC’s will continue to meet weekly, but at a new time and place. DC’s will meet from 4.30 pm to 6 pm at the Sports Centre of William Clarke College. This will then enable the youth who desire to stay around for our 6 pm service, to be able to do so.

Our Friday afternoon kids’ program – OneArvo – will continue, although a location has not yet been confirmed. We will update all parents and leaders as soon as confirmation comes through.

Our plan is for Playgroup to continue to meet during our time offsite. We are currently investigating current leads for a venue. More information will be communicated as negotiations move forward.

Our Easy English ministry will continue to run in a scaled back format. We will meet once per month with different activities. More information will be communicated through our current Easy English contact list and updated here. 

 

No. there will be no ministry activities able to be done on-site, due to our lack of certainty in regards to power, toilets, dust and noise. All CG’s that currently meet on-site will need to make alternate arrangements.

Staff and ministry leaders are currently working out and communicating to each specific ministry area what the plan is for their ministry during the 4-6 months we are offsite
